Data Deletion

Deletion is permanent. The application distinguishes local deletion, provider revocation, and any unverified backup-retention behavior.

Delete a goal

In Goals, open the goal and choose Delete. ProgressOS removes the goal, source, progress snapshots, milestones, goal activity, notifications, sync jobs and attempts, and linked uploaded dataset records and files. If object cleanup fails, the goal remains and the interface reports cleanup as pending so the user can retry.

Delete an uploaded dataset

In Connections, locate the dataset and choose Delete. ProgressOS verifies ownership, deletes and verifies the stored object, removes metadata, saved mapping, linked snapshots, and source references, then recalculates the goal from remaining progress. Download first if a copy is needed.

Disconnect a provider

Disconnect stops scheduled synchronization, removes local encrypted credentials, and attempts the provider’s revocation endpoint. The result says succeeded, failed, or not supported. Historical provider data is deleted unless an operator- and provider-approved retention choice is enabled.

Delete the ProgressOS account

In Settings, enter the signed-in email and the exact deletion phrase. ProgressOS attempts provider revocation, removes credentials, stops jobs, verifies uploaded-object deletion, and deletes active application-database records. A short content-free tombstone prevents the same stale authentication session from immediately recreating the account. The user must complete sign-out from the current authentication provider.

After deletion

These actions cannot be undone in the active application. The response reports pending storage cleanup; content-free receipts record completed or retrying cleanup and provider-revocation counts. Deleting ProgressOS data does not delete content held by a connected provider or the user’s authentication account. Backup expiry is not represented as immediate or guaranteed until the deployed platform behavior is verified.
